TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! The quicker work starts, the less damage there will be. Water mitigation is a multi-phase process. The first course of action is to extract all standing water from the floor, wet carpet and other affected materials.

Once the water is extracted, air movers, dehumidifiers and other equipment is used to dry the affected materials. We have specialized equipment to dry hardwood floors, wall cavities & crawlspaces.

We are the only restoration company in the area with a trailer-mounted heat drying Thermal Energy System (TES) and a trailer-mounted desiccant system. Both are capable of drying entire structures, so they are "secret weapons" in our restoration arsenal.

Our goal, if possible, is to DRY the materials in your home - not just tear them out.

Drying can take multiple days, depending on the amount of water, space and materials involved. Throughout the process, we use moisture meters to track drying of all spaces and materials, and confirm when your home is completely dry.

Depending on what kind of water is involved, and how old the loss is, we may need to remove carpet, pad, baseboards, and/or drywall. In some cases, we'll need to remove materials with microbial growth, repair or remove wood floors, and perform cleaning and/or odor control.

The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) provides a specific set of standards and protocol for addressing a water damage. According to the IICRC S500, water damage repair should only be performed by experienced and trained technicians who will address water damage according to IICRC standards. High Tide Restoration is an IICRC certified firm, our senior staff are certified to Master qualification in their respective fields of expertise, and we require all technicians to be certified in water damage restoration.

There are 3 categories of water loss, as listed below. Depending on the category, the mitigation protocol will vary.

Cat 1 - Clean Water – poses no harm to people. This includes water damage caused by a sink or bathtub overflow, water supply lines, overflows from toilets not contaminated by urine or feces.

Cat 2 - Gray Water – can cause harm and illness to people. This category includes water that has a significant amount of contamination, which can be chemical, physical and/or biological. Examples include a washing machine or dishwasher overflow, water from a toilet containing only urine, etc.

Cat 3 - Black Water – can cause severe illness to people. Black water is very unsanitary and contains pathogenic agents coming from other contaminated water sources. Black water can come from seawater, ground surface water and sewage backups. It is recommended by the IICRC that all porous material affected by black water be removed and discarded for health reasons.

No. It is the homeowners responsibility to prevent further damage, so the faster we get started, the less damage there will be. You will still need to call your insurance provider to make a claim, but you should not wait for an adjuster to meet with you before calling a professional restoration company.
